For a fun committee look at this! The Annual APWA Installation of Officers Dinner represents a chapter high point each year. The out-going APWA Southern California Board President is recognized for his/her term of service, and the in-coming board members are introduced to the attending membership. This annual event is a fun and enjoyable night that gathers Public Works Professionals to enjoy great food and companionship. The Installation Dinner committee selects the venue often at locations that are some of the most unique and well-known in Southern California. They have included both current and historical sites, such as historical locations of the Los Angeles Union Station and Downtown Los Angeles’ Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Some more unique locations have included the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center. The venue location and event themes change annually (i.e. 007, Roaring 20s, Hawaiian, etc.) to ensure a unique celebration of Chapter membership.

The Committee one of our largest, helps to bring the hundreds of members in our large chapter together. It also introduces new Chapter leaders and recognizes the efforts of those leaders stepping down. The event is a great networking opportunity offering face to face interaction at venues that vary throughout Southern California.

The committee itself is comprised of many members to implement their core mission: to acknowledge leaders, establish interaction within the Public Works community, and to just enjoy each other’s company and kick off a new year at great venues.

This Committee has a very tangible and noticeable product (i.e. the Annual dinner) with specific goals. The Committee offers the opportunity to meet many APWA members, as well as develop relationships with leaders, and learn about setting up events in large venues which is always a lot of fun! The Committee is always looking for new members to plan, design and execute this event, so come get involved as the committee works to promote interaction, networking and sharing among our members.

If you enjoy big event planning and want to experience the fun of joining together as a team to create a memorable experience for your industry peers – then this is the committee for you! They commence planning activities in July/August of each year. For any information on this most successful AND FUN committee, contact Carlos Castellanos via email at  CCastellanos@anaheim.net
