The City of Tustin is currently seeking applicants for the position of Senior Engineer. Under general supervision, performs
advanced and complex professional engineering tasks and provides leadership and technical guidance to professional and
technical staff.
The Senior Engineer is the advanced journey level classification in the professional engineering series. An employee in this
classification performs advanced and complex civil engineering tasks related to the design, development, investigation,
construction and maintenance of the City’s public works and water utility infrastructure in addition to being responsible for
lead supervisory activities such as assigning work, monitoring project progress and providing technical assistance and
training to other professional and technical staff. Senior Engineer is distinguished from Associate Engineer by the
performance or more complex engineering tasks requiring a higher degree of technical knowledge and experience in
public works engineering and by the responsibility for lead supervisory duties. This class is distinguished from Principal
Engineer in that the latter has full supervisory responsibility for a work unit and performs the most complicated or highest
profile duties assigned to the group.
