Public Works Director/City Engineer – City of Grover Beach, California
Situated along the picturesque Central Coast of California, Grover Beach is home to
2.31 square miles of laid-back coastal charm and exciting outdoor activities like hiking,

Santa Barbara midway between the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, flanked

The City of Grover Beach is seeking a Public Works Director/City Engineer who is an
innovative, solution-oriented engineering professional, capable of addressing today’s
Public Works challenges, and leading and mentoring a strong team within both the
engineering and maintenance divisions. The Public Works Department is committed to
delivering essential services and maintaining the city’s quality of life – including providing
reliable water and wastewater services, caring for city parks and infrastructure, and
ensuring that developments are completed successfully and in compliance with adopted
standards.
Competitive candidates will possess the equivalent of five years of increasingly
responsible experience in Public Works, engineering and/or utilities, including three
years in a supervisory or management capacity, and a bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering, public or business administration or related field. A Master’s degree is
desirable. The successful candidate must possess a valid registration as a Professional
Civil Engineer in the State of California or be able to obtain said license within 18
months of appointment as Director.
The salary range is $150,540 – $192,132, with an approved 3% increase effective July
1, 2026, and a competitive benefits package.
